We are delighted to welcome Laura Ferreira to the Méribel Nanny Services team for winter 2026/27. Originally from South Africa, Laura has been working with children on and off since 2020 and has experience caring for children from babies through to teenagers.
Her childcare journey began in South Africa, babysitting for local families around her studies, evenings and weekends, caring for children from as young as 6 months. She regularly provided after-school care for an 8-year-old, helping with homework, preparing dinner and managing evening and bedtime routines.
Since leaving South Africa to travel, Laura has worked across Europe in a variety of roles, within luxury villas and chalets. However, between her seasonal positions, she has always found herself drawn back to working with children.
In summer 2024, Laura spent several months working as an Au Pair/Nanny for a family with a 5-week-old baby in Greece.
This was an incredibly valuable experience and gave her the opportunity to develop her knowledge and confidence caring for very young babies. She gained hands-on experience with feeding expressed breast milk, settling, routines and understanding the individual needs of a newborn.
More recently, Laura spent three months in Perth, Australia, working as a temporary nanny for three children aged 1, 2 and 6. Her primary responsibility was the full-time care of the youngest child, while also caring for the older children around nursery and school. Her role involved all aspects of daily care, including nappy changing, feeding, preparing meals, managing routines and planning fun, stimulating and age-appropriate activities.
Laura also holds a Diploma in Fashion and Design, and her naturally creative personality is something she loves bringing into her childcare. Whether it’s arts and crafts, imaginative play or finding new ways to keep little ones entertained, she enjoys creating activities around each child’s age and interests.
Already very familiar with Méribel, Laura has spent one and a half winter seasons working as a chalet host and housekeeper in a high-end private chalet in the resort. This has given her a great understanding of the expectations of families visiting the Three Valleys, as well as valuable experience working within a luxury chalet environment.
After her time working in chalets, Laura is excited to get back to what she loves – working with children. She is looking forward to a new challenge this winter, combining her childcare experience, creativity and knowledge of Méribel to make sure the children in her care have a fun-filled and memorable mountain holiday.
Laura’s references had nothing but fantastic things to say about her, including:
“Throughout her time with us, Laura has proved to be exceptionally caring, attentive, dependable, and trustworthy. She has developed a wonderful relationship with all three
children 1,2 & 6 years and has shown an excellent ability to adapt her approach to suit their different ages, personalities, and individual needs. Laura is warm, patient, and nurturing, while also maintaining a calm and confident presence. She creates a safe, happy, and engaging environment for the children and is proactive in organising age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities that encourage play, creativity, and
development.”
“Laura was a caring, responsible and reliable presence in our home and quickly developed a lovely relationship with our child 8 years old. Her responsibilities included day-today childcare, activities, homework, preparing simple meals and maintaining a safe and enjoyable routine. Laura was patient, attentive and adaptable, and we always felt confident leaving ourchild in her care. She was also punctual, dependable and respectful of our family’s routines.”
“Laura started with us when our baby was just five weeks old, so having someone caring, responsible and confident around such a young baby was extremely important to us. Laura quickly became a trusted and valued part of our family. During her time with us, Laura gained valuable hands-on experience caring for a new born. She assisted with feeding expressed breast milk, settling the baby, maintaining routines, comforting and soothing, and responding to the baby’s individual needs. She was gentle, patient and attentive, and demonstrated a genuine interest in understanding the needs and behaviours of a very young baby.”
